Enclomiphene

Common Use

Enclomiphene is a selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM) used primarily in men to treat secondary hypogonadism and restore natural testosterone production. It stimulates the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis to increase luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), which then signal the testes to produce testosterone. It is also being studied for use in male infertility and other hormone-related conditions.

Dosage and Directions

Enclomiphene is taken orally, usually once daily. Dosage may vary depending on testosterone levels and physician recommendations. Regular blood tests are required to monitor testosterone and hormone response during treatment.

Precautions

Inform your doctor if you have a history of liver disease, blood clots, or hormone-sensitive cancers. It is not intended for use by women, especially during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Men should be monitored for signs of elevated estrogen, such as gynecomastia or mood swings.

Contraindications

Enclomiphene should not be used by individuals with liver impairment, existing hormone-sensitive tumors (like prostate or testicular cancer), or known hypersensitivity to the drug. It is not recommended for use in women.

Possible Side Effects

Common side effects include headache, nausea, mood changes, or hot flashes. In some men, it may cause visual disturbances, increased aggression, or elevated estrogen levels. Rare but serious effects include blood clots or liver enzyme changes.

Drug Interaction

Enclomiphene may interact with medications affecting liver enzymes or other hormone therapies. Caution is advised when used with other SERMs or testosterone-boosting agents. Inform your doctor about all medications and supplements.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it’s close to your next scheduled dose, skip the missed one. Do not take double doses.

Overdose

Symptoms of overdose are not well defined but may include hormonal imbalance or overstimulation of testosterone production. Seek medical attention if an overdose is suspected.

Storage

Store enclomiphene at room temperature in a dry place, away from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children and do not use after the expiration date.
